Muscle Growth Supplements

Are Supplements the Fast Track to Muscle Growth?
You will find opinions on this subject will vary enormously depending on who the writer is. The majority of health and fitness writers in favour of supplementation have vested interests. Those writing against it are trying to be controversial in order to sell their work.
Supplements were originally designed for use as their name suggests, for supplementing or adding to a normal diet. They are not meant to replace foods and not meant to be the basis for your diet. There are hundreds and thousands of products on the market and a few are effective and go some way in doing what they say on the packaging. But most unfortunately are a complete waste of time and money.
Scientific proof can justify some supplements in their ability to promote muscle growth, but others are merely verified by the companies own in house staff.
One of biggest problems with supplements is that many people expect to look better and change their appearance simply by spending a large amount of money on them and never really getting their training or diet right. It isn’t their fault, the promises from these companies lead us believe that huge amounts of muscle growth will miraculously appear simply by taking a pill or drinking a shake.
Muscle growth doesn’t happen like this, muscles only increase in size if you give them stimulus for change, they need a reason to grow and this can only be achieved by continually increasing the workload you place upon them.
Should I use supplements?
If you are a seasoned trainer and train regularly, eat well and maintain a healthy steady weight but are wanting to push on to another level, then yes you could definitely consider some form of supplements such as:
Creatine – To help build strength and power
Protein shake - Using a quality protein powder can help add a few more protein rich calories to your diet.
Tribulus – As close to steroids as you can get naturally. Tribulus is a herb that helps to boost testosterone levels.
If you are a newcomer to Bodybuilding and your nutritional intake is good, then you don’t NEED to take any supplements and could simply be wasting your hard earned cash.
If you are considering supplementing your diet to boost muscle growth, do some research from unbiased sources and don’t be convinced by the sales pitch of the manufacturing company, they know exactly which buttons to press to get you to buy.
If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. You would be better off investing in a muscle building program and learning the essentials of bodybuilding first, at least you will have something to show for your money.
